The owner of this garden center decided to double the amount of floor space (10,000 square meters) by building a large new retail area. And he did it with a vision: saving energy while improving light levels and enhancing the aesthetic vision of the architect.
The Nedap Design Team rose to the challenge and the results are stunning in every possible way. The glass environment of the greenhouses was complimented with glass reflectors that control glare from the glass. Remote control gear was mounted in metal housings that blend seamlessly with the structure of the greenhouses and the Nedap dimmable electronic 320W ballasts. Furthermore lamps were specifically chosen to provide a color temperature of 3700K (Ra 90). This replicates the warm color appearance of domestic tungsten lighting, so customers can experience the flowers and plants the way they would at home.
Smart lighting, ultimate savings
Why use precious energy for lighting
when the sun is shining? This is why Nedap Luxon applied roofmounted photocells linked to an automatic dimming
system that reacts to the amount of daylight available in a particular area. This way, energy savings are enormous,
especially during daylight hours. Nedap calls this smart lighting with ultimate savings.
